Perbadanan Produktiviti Malaysia was established as a National Productivity Centre in 1962, which is a joint project of the Special Fund of the United Nations and the Federal Government with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) as the agency administrator. National Productivity Centre became an autonomous body through (Incorporation) Act National Productivity Council No. 19 of 1966. This Act was amended by Act (Incorporation) National Productivity Council (Amendment) Act A305, 1975 in accordance with the development of the Centre.
